On 16 January 2015, Mr Jean Tarrade, the CNUE's incoming President, met the Latvian Minister of Justice, Mr Dzintars Rasnačs, in Riga. Latvia holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first semester of 2015.

It was a fruitful meeting. At the heart of the exchanges were the negotiations on the forthcoming European regulation on public documents and the directive on the single-member company, subjects which particularly interest the Presidency and the European notariat. For both texts, the stakes are high with regard to legal certainty.

The CNUE’s 2020 Plan was presented to the Minister, who welcomed it. The notary’s role in combatting money laundering and tax collection were also discussed.

Representatives from the Council of Sworn Notaries of Latvia were present at the meeting.
