The French notariat’s Higher Council (Conseil supérieur du notariat), the National Chamber of the German notariat (Bundesnotarkammer) and the Franco-German Centre of Legal Studies of the University of Sarre signed a convention on 16 October 2015 instituting Franco-German continuous notarial training.

It is the first time that such binational training has been introduced. German notaries will be trained in French notarial law and French notaries in German notarial law, in order to better understand cross-border situations. The training will be conducted partially by e-learning and partially as classroom training.

This signature comes in the context of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the French-German Centre of Legal Studies, initiating the opening of the university to professionals. This celebration welcomed the German Minister of Justice, Mr Heiko Maas, and the French consul to Sarrebruck. The initiative comes in the context of the prolongation of the cooperation agreement signed on 7 October 2014 by the French and German notariats, with a view to a rapprochement.
