As of 1 November 2016 the Dutch notariat has set up a European Succession Certificate Register (ESCR). Dutch notaries can register their ESC’s here with data about the deceased. This will facilitate the processing of cross-border succession cases. Registration and search in the Dutch ESCR is free. In June 2017 the use of the register will be evaluated.

The Dutch notariat is the third notariat to implement a register of ECSs, after France and Luxembourg. These two registers are interconnected via the ENRWA (www.enrwa.eu). The ENRWA interconnects the ECS national registers to allow searches for certificates issued in another State, in compliance with the conditions imposed by this State.
