On 3 and 4 November, the 10th annual meeting of the Romanian and French notariats was held in Paris. This meeting is a privileged time for exchanges and sharing between these two notariats that are united by a cooperation agreement signed in Bucharest in April 2007.
For two days, the notariats exchanged good practice with respect to archiving and data protection. They studied together the new European regulation 2016/679 on data protection.
They also discussed couples’ rights, and in particular divorce by mutual consent. This is a well established practice. In France, notaries will soon be able to record on the register a divorce by mutual consent carried out by two lawyers.
The participants were given a first impression of the two European regulations on the rights of couples (regulation on matrimonial property regimes; regulation on registered partnerships). They then received feedback on experiences in notarial mediation practised in France in family conflicts.
