On 8 June 2018, the ENRWA and the Romanian notariat organised a conference designed to make Romanian notaries aware of the searches of foreign registers of wills. The ENRW is still too little used by Romanian notaries, despite interconnection having been in place since 2011. Before some fifty participants, Mr Philippe GIRARD, President of the ENRWA, explained the interest in searching the registers located in other European countries. He insisted on the liability incurred by notaries in the absence of a search for wills abroad. Mr Octavian ROGOJANU, Vice-President of the ENRWA and Member of the Bucharest Chamber, stressed the specificities of the regulation on international successions. Finally, a live demonstration of how ENRW Light works helped to convince the audience of the speed and use of this tool.
Ms Laura BADIU, President of the Bucharest Chamber, who attended the conference, acknowledged the simplicity of interconnection and the need to use it.
This meeting allowed fruitful exchanges. A Romanian notary was even able to share his positive experience in settling a Franco-Romanian succession. Wishing to renew this experience, the ENRWA is at the disposal of notariats which would also like to organise such an event.
