There is an ever-increasing number of citizens who forge links with citizens of another Member State for professional or family reasons. One of the European Union's fundamental objectives is to provide European families with an area of justice, freedom and security without internal boundaries. To this end, the EU adopts appropriate legislation guaranteeing European citizens a high level of legal certainty.
That is why the CNUE's mission is the promotion of the notariat and its active contribution to any decision-making by the European institutions which affects the areas relevant to citizens' and businesses' legal affairs, access to justice or again the protection of the consumer. With a view to dialogue with the European institutions, the CNUE set up working groups to follow EU affairs and establish position papers committing all of the CNUE's member notariats. These working groups are composed of experts designated by the member notariats and are chaired by a representative of one of the member notariats. The CNUE is thus present in all political and technical matters that have an impact on the notarial profession.
