Secure real estate transfers in Europe

Buying a home is an important moment in citizens‘ lives. An application for a mortgage credit is therefore of the utmost importance, both financially and personally. Moreover, increasing numbers of Europeans buy property outside their own country of origin. Notaries facilitate these transnational operations and advise citizens on the legal conditions of their purchase and of their loan. The EU‘s 40 000 notaries make up an efficient network, helping citizens as they purchase a property.

In this context, the CNUE follows work towards the implementation of a European mortgage credit market with interest. As a member of the Forum Group on Mortgage Credit set up by the European Commission, the CNUE actively participates in EU work to develop mortgage law, being particularly vigilant about keeping consumers informed and protecting their rights.
